Parnell vs. Papatoetoe – Shore Road 

Ganesh Ratnasabapathy gave Parnell another perfect start with the ball to help set up a comfortable five-wicket win over Papatoetoe.

Papatoetoe hit three sixes before Ratnasabapathy struck twice in the fifth over. Skipper Logan Clark and Navi Doel fought to restore some balance, but Parnell’s bowlers ensured they kept the pressure on. Regular wickets hampered any real chance of recovery as Aniket Parikh and Fanie de Villiers made significant inroads through the middle and lower order.

Chasing 184, Ben Rae knew he could afford to take his time and did just that, hitting an unbeaten 77 off 120 deliveries. The experienced opener lost five partners along the way, but Brad Rodden’s 41 eased any pressure on the hosts as the table-toppers registered a fourth consecutive 50-over win.

Papatoetoe 184 (L Clark 38, G Ratnasabapathy 3-23, A Parikh 3-42) lost to Parnell 188/5 (B Rae 77*, B Rodden 41) by five wickets.

T20 Round One: Auckland University vs. Papatoetoe – Colin Maiden Park

Papatoetoe overturned Saturday’s 50-over defeat to Auckland University by sneaking home by eight runs. 

Though the visitors lost Josh Plummer early on, Harshal Vyas (33) and Logan Clark (26) were able to give Papatoetoe a platform. Ish Sohi hit three sixes as he raced through to 37. University, however, will have been pleased with keeping Papatoetoe to 138/9.

The start to University’s chase was action-packed. Three boundaries and two wickets came from the first two overs. Wicketkeeper Graham Clark (34) was in a hurry hitting 4 fours and a six to keep the innings moving. The fortunes of both sides ebbed and flowed right until the end when Sunit Birla struck twice in the final over to give Papatoetoe a slender victory.

Papatoetoe 138/9 (I Sohi 37, H Vyas 33) played 131 (G Clark 34, S Birla 3-20) by eight runs

Papatoetoe vs. Takapuna 

Takapuna survived setting just 58 in a shortened match against a previously unbeaten Papatoetoe side. There wasn’t much to speak of with the bat for either side. Carol Agafili’s three wickets kept Takapuna in check before Sydney Bultitude and Jane Barnett kept up their recent form and bowled Takapuna to victory.

Takapuna 58/6 (C Agafili 3-23) defeated Papatoetoe 46 (S Bultitude 3-12, J Barnett 3-15) by 12 runs.

Auckland University vs. Papatoetoe

Auckland University made it two from two on the day as Sam Petherick backed up her earlier bowling heroics with an unbeaten 46 with the bat. Papatoetoe’s Kolotita Lui Nonu claimed three wickets late on to keep University under 140. In reply, Papatoetoe’s chase never got going as Ahalya Babu settled in on a line and length, grabbing two wickets from her first three overs.

Auckland University 138/6 (S Petherick 46*, K Lui Nonu 3-13) defeated Papatoetoe 35/9 (A Babu 3-6) by 103 runs.
