| Premier Men kick off T20s with a nail-biting win over Auckland University! |

The Premier Men kicked off their T20 competition at home last Wednesday against Auckland University. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first setting Papatoetoe a target of 156 runs. Harshal Vyas was the pick of the bowlers taking 2-30 off his four overs while Luke Istead, Lakshay Bhardway, Navdeep Aujla, and Josh Plummer all chipped in with one wicket each.
With a decent chase on Papatoetoe's hands, some Plummer power-hitting early on got the team off to a great start with a quick-fire 28 including 3 sixes and 2 fours before failing to put away a full toss that saw him bowled in the third over with the team on 41-1. Crucial 27-run cameos from Istead, including 2 sixes, and Aujla helped inch the team closer to the target with Aujla hitting the winning run on the final ball of the match to see the team across the line.

It’s hard to pick a batsman to single out in Parnell’s batting effort against Papatoetoe. Four players crossed the half-century mark, and it can’t be said anyone failed with the bat. Flynn McGregor-Sumpter top scored with 84, and when he was dismissed captain Brad Rodden stepped in and decided he wasn’t missing out – he hit 55 off 31 balls.
Papatoetoe had a bowling innings they won’t remember fondly. Harshal Vyas picked up three wickets, but in this match he was inexpensive at five an over. Parnell finished 50 overs at 319/4.
Within two overs Papatoetoe were 9/2. Ollie Pringle and Henry King were in belligerent form, and if Parnell’s bowlers were a touch expensive, there were plenty of runs in the bank. Not to mention, they were taking wickets.
Papatoetoe had a revival when Navdeep Aujla and Damanpreet Bhatti put on an 88-run stand. But coming in at eight and nine, it was far too late. Papatoetoe finished at 186 all out, 133 runs short.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Premier Women did a great job at chipping away at Parnell's batting order to restrict the hosts to 143/10 off their 49.3 overs. Taofi Lafai was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-23 off her 10 overs with fellow Samoan Internationals, Lagi Telea and Kolotita Nonu Lui also chipping in with two wickets each.
With 144 the target, openers Toni Baldwin and Lafai got the team off to a good start with a 44-run opening stand before Lafai was dismissed caught, followed closely by Baldwin two overs later. Unfortunately, from that point on, regular wickets continued to fall with the team all out on 109 in the 38th over.

- Foundation Course (an email address is required for initial registration) - this course is a requirement to coach all soft ball and tennis ball grades and can be completed all online.
- Advanced Foundation Course - the Foundation Course is a pre-requisite for this and involves theory as well as practical components. This is a requirement to coach all junior boys (U19 and below) and girls (U16 and below) grades.
