Back to back T20 losses for the Premier Men at Cornwall Park

ACA Report

Cornwall vs. Papatoetoe – Cornwall Park

Cornwall won the toss, batted first and promptly compiled the highest score of the day. Amit Dhadwal and Michael Guptill-Bunce set about building a platform for a big total. Guptill-Bunce scored freely to post a rare half-century on a day dominated by bowlers. The Papatoetoe bowlers – namely Daman Bhatti – would have their say late in the innings with Cornwall posting 163/8.

Papatoetoe were under constant pressure. Teja Nidamanuru was a big part of lifting the required run-rate conceding only eight runs from his four overs. Disciplined bowling throughout strangled the middle-order as Papatoetoe were eventually restricted to 91/7 from 20 overs.

Cornwall 163/8 (M. Guptill-Bunce 62, Am. Dhadwal 32, D, Bhatti 3-29) defeated Papatoetoe 91/7 by 72 runs.

Papatoetoe vs. Parnell – Cornwall Park

Papatoetoe’s day didn’t get much easier as Parnell won the toss and put them in to bat. Navdeep Aujla started brightly pushing Papatoetoe out to a reasonable start – 40/1.  A series of run-outs decimated the middle order to suck all of Papatoetoe’s momentum out of the innings. Ollie Pringle, Josh Fisher, and Aniket Parikh all picked up two wickets apiece in another disciplined Peaches’ performance.

Parnell made quick work of the chase. This time Andy Lane was the main man clubbing 5 fours and 4 sixes in a dominant half-century. Crossing the line with the best part of seven overs remaining, Parnell again boosted their all-important net run-rate.

Papatoetoe 99 lost to Parnell 100/2 (A. Lane 51) by eight wickets.

U14 Manukau Girls win inaugural U14 District tournament!
Hannah giving high-fives as Caitlin looks on.
Congratulations to our U16 Papatoetoe girls, Dayle Anderson, Lucia Aneterea, and Belina Aneterea who represented Manukau at the Inaugural U14 Districts Tournament at Te Atatu Park prior to Christmas and came away winners! Well done girls!

The U15 Manukau girls, which included Hannah Burns (captain), Kiri Anderson, Caitlin Hakeagatoa, Kayla Mataora, Claudia Vaotuua, and Faith Moa, were up against some tough competition with strong North Harbour and Central sides dominating the tournament. However, Manukau did well to get into the 3rd and 4th play-off against Eastern, who proved too good on the day losing by 41 runs chasing 123.
Tournament Results
Congrats Hannah and Caitlin on your selection into the Auckland U15 Girls squad!

Congratulations to Hannah Burns and Caitlin Hakeagatoa (non-traveling reserve) on their first-time selection into the Auckland U15 Girls squad! On top of that, Hannah also won the Spirit of Cricket award at the recent U15 Girls District tournament which reflects her character and maturity as a natural leader on and off the field.

The National U15 Girls tournament kicks off next week in Wanganui from the 7th - 11th January. Go well girls, we look forward to following your progress!
Overseas Pro Jake Dunford to join the Premier Men for the second half of the season
A huge welcome to our overseas professional, Jake Dunford who is joining our Premier Men's squad for the rest of the season. Jake has had a fantastic 2018-19 season so far playing county cricket for Surrey CCC and the MCC Young Cricketers on a full time playing contract, as well as international cricket for Jersey in the ICC 50 over and T20 competitions.

Jake is likely to fill the wicketkeeper/batsman role in the absence of Stephen Money who is off on his overseas experience. We look forward to having you join our great club and seeing you have great success with our lads in red!
