Richard Jones Cup | Round Seven
Papatoetoe 290/7 (S Money 135, L Clark 41, L Yugaraja 34) defeated Grafton 169 (G Olliff 52, J Pickering 32, J Plummer 4-46, R Sayed 3-21, N Aujla 3-46) by 121 runs.
A fifth Richard Jones Cup victory sees Papatoetoe also book a home semifinal and despite defeat, Grafton held on to fourth place. Papatoetoe again followed their bat first blueprint, benefitting from runs at the top, but this week they came from a different source with Stephen Money hitting a fine century. The Papatoetoe wicketkeeper hit 17 fours in his 142-ball 135, while Logan Clark (41) and Arnie Yugaraja (34) helped lift Papatoetoe to 290/7. For Grafton, both Ryan Phizackerley and Dylan Taylor picked up two wickets.
Josh Plummer then lit a fire under the Lions’ top order, taking the first four wickets to reduce the visitors to 50/4. Garth Oliff (52) and James Pickering (32) tried to find a way back for Grafton, but Riyan Sayed (3-21) and Navdeep Aujla (3-46) snuffed out any resistance. Grafton were eventually bowled out for 169 in the 36th over.
