Alert Level 2 - Return to Play

Although it is great that we are able to get out and play this weekend, it is VERY important that we keep each other safe by adhering to the 'Return to Play' guidelines so please download and familiarise yourselves before the weekend!

Points to note from the Club Manager:
  • All games scheduled to be played at the Papatoetoe Rec Ground, either on Saturday morning or afternoon of Saturday, Feb 20th has been moved away as a precautionary measure to minimise the risk of escalating the Covid outbreak.

  • The venue and date for the Premier Men’s Richard Jones one day semi-final is likely to be deferred to the rain saving day on Feb 28th

  • The Kolmar facility will be following the relevant guidelines for Covid stages of the time.

Hedley Howarth Trophy | Round Four

Suburbs New Lynn 304 (S Solia 65, T Payle 60, S Devereaux 43, J Bassett-Graham 34, T Patel 32, N Aujla 6-84) defeated Papatoetoe 214 (B Rowland 90, Stephen Money 61, A Ashok 5-64, M Barry 3-27) on first innings.

Suburbs New Lynn extended their lead atop the Hedley Howarth table with a rousing away win over Papatoetoe. It took a collective effort to get the visitors to a defendable total, with fifties by Sean Solia (65) and Tristan Payle (60) leading the way. Though Papatoetoe’s Navdeep Aujla (6-84) ensured Suburbs never truly got away, Sam Devereaux rearguard 43 lifted his side to 304.

Papatoetoe lost two wickets before stumps on Day One and it was a sign of things to come with Adithya Ashok picking up a wicket with his third delivery. Barrington Rowland (90) and Stephen Money (61) then frustrated the Suburbs attack, putting on 138 for the third wicket and Papatoetoe on track for a first-innings lead. A wicketless morning session wasn’t enough to halt Suburbs, however, as Ashok (5-64) struck three major blows in the half an hour after lunch. Rowland carried on until Michael Barry (3-27) made his mark; fittingly, Ashok wrapped up the innings and Suburbs’ fourth two-day victory of 20/21.

Premier Women

Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Seven

Takapuna 122/6 (A van Deventer 51, J Veale 3-26) defeated Papatoetoe 50 (C Mains 3-2, J Barnett 3-14) by 72 runs.

An Anlo van Deventer fifty helped Takapuna past Papatoetoe on a turning wicket. The Ponies’ skipper hit 51 off 38 balls to lift her side to 122/6. Jaimie Veale was the best of the Papatoetoe bowlers finishing with 3-26 from her four overs.

Despite a reasonable opening, Papatoetoe’s chase took a rapid turn after the first six overs. Jane Barnett (3-14) got Takapuna started during a lively 7th over before combining with Arlene Kelly (2-12) and Clare Mains (3-2) to bowl Papatoetoe out for 50.

Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Eight

Papatoetoe 125/6 (R Lilii 71*, A Parr 3-27) defeated Howick Pakuranga 62 (J Veale 4-12) by 63 runs.

Howick Pakuranga’s six-match winning streak came to an end, falling to Papatoetoe. Regina Lilii played a major role in securing Papatoetoe’s second win of the campaign, scoring 71* off 57 balls. For Howick Pakuranga, skipper Amberly Parr continued her good form with the ball picking up 3-27.

Chasing 126, Howick Pakuranga were in early trouble. Once Papatoetoe got on top, there was no letting up as all five bowlers picked up wickets with Jaimie Veale excellent once again. Veale added 4-12 to the three wickets she took in Round 7, while Helen Semau’s 2-5 helped Papatoetoe secure a 63-run win over their Southern rivals.
