Level 1 from the GM's Desk

Welcome to Alert Level 1.

The Government has made the decision to move to Alert Level 1 from Monday night. This is great news for winter codes but equally changes what cricketers can now begin to do as we head back to relative normality.

Play, active recreation, and sport under Alert Level 1 looks much like it did pre-COVID-19 but with border restrictions. There are no restrictions on businesses and services (including function centers), no restrictions on gatherings, no requirements for physical distancing, and no requirements to keep records to enable contact tracing. You should still log in to where you have been to
enable tracking if and as required. While none of the public health requirements are mandatory – it is important to remain vigilant and continue to practice good hygiene to minimise the risk of community transmission.

I can confirm that both the Junior and Senior Prizegivings will go ahead on Sunday, 5th July.

  • Junior Prizegiving will be held in the Indoor Centre from 2pm- 3pm.
  • Senior Prizegiving will be in the main upstairs lounge from 3pm - 4pm.
The Senior Prizegiving will then be followed by the Club AGM and I urge all those that have a genuine concern for the Club's welfare going forward to attend and find out how the Club is tracking and who will be running the Club on your behalf for the next year.

If you feel that you can and would like to contribute to the success of the Club going forward, but are unsure what is required, contact me to discuss where/how you might want to be involved.

The respective trophies are at the engravers this week and will be ready to be handed out to awards recipients at both events.

The Indoor Centre is now open for bookings. The Club members receive a discounted rate of $15 per lane, per hour. This is well below the general public rates. If you want to get some
training underway in the off-season contact Kolmar Reception on 09 277 6710 to book. If you want coaching, contact the Club Manager at papcricketdevelopment@gmail.com

The Club’s winter program will start very shortly with details to follow in the next newsletter. There will also be a Breakaway holiday program in the upcoming school holidays, details to follow.

Taofi Lafai takes home Premier Women's Club Cricketer of the Year Award

ACA's timing was perfect last week! With Taofi Lafai booked on a flight back to Samoa on Friday, she was finally able to get her hands on the award on Thursday, along with a lovely photoshoot, after it was personally delivered by ACA's media staff members.

This is the second season in a row that a Papatoetoe Cricket Club member has won the Prem Women's MVP award with Lagi Telea taking home the same award in the 2018-19 season.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Taofi wasn't able to celebrate at the Auckland Cricket Awards but hopefully, she can celebrate with family and friends in Samoa. Her story and success in the past season will hopefully inspire more young women in Samoa and here in Auckland to try cricket!

Sunday, 5th July: Junior Prizegiving, Senior Prizegiving, AGM

With Covid-19 throwing a spanner in the works, we would like to hold ALL three events at Kolmar on Sunday, 5th July with timings as follows:
  • Junior Prizegiving (indoor centre): 2 - 3 pm
  • Senior Prizegiving (main function room upstairs): 3 - 4 pm
  • AGM (main function room upstairs): 4 - 5 pm
The Kolmar Bar will also be open.

Please RSVP as soon as possible using the button below so that the Club can gauge numbers attending.
