From the General Manager's Desk

Good Afternoon All,

I hope you continue to get through Level 4 of the lockdown with no major problems.
I have included the latest update from Kolmar as well as their Facebook page so you can update yourself with what is current in that space.

From Nikki, Kolmar Operations:

"With the Government’s announcement on Monday, 20 April of moving out of Alert Level 4 lockdown at 11.59pm on Monday 27 April and into Alert Level 3 for two weeks, we wanted to update our Member Groups and Kolmar users on how this affects our operations.

Under the Lockdown Level Sport and Recreation guidelines, Kolmar will remain closed.
We ask that you all continue to keep us in the loop on all information coming directly from your regional sporting bodies to help us effectively plan for recommencement of community sport and recreation and ensure we are able to adhere to any guidelines needing to be put in place.

If you have any further concerns or queries please do get in touch both myself and Barry will continue to work from home at this time.
Further decisions on 11 May. We will update once this information is released”.

Points for members to note:

  1. The Club’s Academy program is being reviewed and rewritten to reflect what more of the members seem to want. A lot more detail will come out in next week’s newsletter with information around groupings, dates and times and cost.
  2. The AGM will be in mid-June. If you or someone you know is interested to help with running the Club, contact me at
  3. A day and time for all team gear bags to be dropped off at the Club will be included in next week’s newsletter.
  4. A reminder to all team captains that a (small) report is due back on the season from every team to go into the Annual Report

Until next week,
Garry Wood
Papatoetoe CC General Manager

Meet some of our Most Influential Club People: Neil Ronaldson
Neil Ronaldson getting capped into NZ Over 50s side.

Think I might have been born there!!!! Dad moved to Papatoetoe from Wellington in the early 50s and became involved in all aspects of the club from  then to this day where he is still the patron, so my childhood like many others was spent growing up at the Rec.

Winning two Championships was huge as so many go through careers without one. Our centenary season was also very special and to still be playing and to celebrate it in the old clubrooms was magic.

Winning the Auckland Cricketer of the Year 3 years in a row as well as being leading wicket-taker in Auckland for two seasons, and two Premier hat-tricks.

Being selected for the NZ Over 50s team for the 2020 O50s World Cup in Cape Town and getting to sing the national anthem was pretty surreal… 50!!
Tom Hellaby to me was the ultimate club player with bat, ball, in the field, and as captain. Mark Bradley, Simon Peterson, and Shane Singe were close seconds. Simon Poole was a very underestimated player who scored consistently over many seasons. Our pace bowling quartet of Gareth Shaw, Gareth Wood, Jamie Graham, Lance Shaw wouldn’t have looked out of place in many First Class sides.

Nigel Hirst, Smudge McNeilage, Choc Wallace, Wally Stamp, Herbie Plummer, Bill Clarke, Richard Tabberner, Baz Troup, Simon Poole

Please donate to your local Cricket Club and receive a tax rebate
Did you know that Papatoetoe District Cricket Club Inc is a registered charity at both the Charities Commission and the IRD.  This means that for any donation made to the Club of $5 or more, an individual can claim a tax rebate at the end of the financial year.

The IRD pays out 33.33 cents for every dollar you donate to charities or similar organisations. The total you can claim in one tax year is the lesser of 33.33% of your total donations or 33.33% of your taxable income.

So, if you would like to support your local Club and are keen to get a tax rebate, donations can be made to account number 12-3044-0287262-52.  Once you make a donation please email and we will arrange to send you out a tax receipt.  Thank you for your support.
