Premier Men

Hedley Howarth Trophy | Round Five

Papatoetoe 321/8 (B Rowland 173*, S Singh 74, D Gunawardene 3-72) lead Grafton

It was another day dominated by Barrington Rowland as Papatoetoe fought back from a disastrous first half of the day. At 126/6, Grafton had accounted for much of the power at the top of the Papatoetoe order. Sineth Gunawardene’s three wickets had the hosts on top, only for Rowland to find excellent support in Sukhjap Singh. The pair put on 161 for the 7th wicket, with Singh eventually stumped for 74*.

Rowland continued on to 173* off 250 deliveries, batting through the 93 overs on Day One. The opener’s knock again showed his stamina and hunger for runs, hitting 17 boundaries. Papatoetoe finished Day One with 321/8 on the board.

Victoria Park 1 vs Grafton United CC
Day 2: Sat 27 Feb 11am

Premier Women

Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Nine

Papatoetoe 36 (A Hucker 4-12) lost to Cornwall 37/2 by eight wickets.

Cornwall made short work of Papatoetoe to all but book their T20 Finals Day ticket. The damage was done with the new ball as Amie Hucker (4-12) and Breearne Illing (2-4) starred for Cornwall. Chasing 37, Cornwall needed only 8.2 overs to seal an eight-wicket victory.

Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Ten

Papatoetoe 70 (R MacMillan 3-10, Y Kareem 3-12) lost to Parnell 71/2 (Y Kareem 32*) by eight wickets.

Parnell made it a two-from-two finish to the Pearl Dawson Trophy, but it wasn’t enough to sneak into third place. Renee MacMillan (3-10) and Yaz Kareem (3-12) ensured Parnell wouldn’t have a big chase on their hands, bowling Papatoetoe out for 70. Kareem (32*) then anchored the chase, with Parnell’s eight-wicket victory coming in the tenth over.
