Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Five
Papatoetoe 104/3 (T Hickson 40) lost to Parnell 105/4 by six wickets.
Parnell extended their winning streak to three with a six-wicket win over Papatoetoe at Shore Road. Tessa Hickson’s 40 provided Papatoetoe a solid base, but the quick runs never came as the Plums’ attack kept it tight at the death. Madison Curran led the way for Parnell with 2-17 from her four overs, while Shriya Naidu and Ella Drumm built pressure throughout.
Chasing 105, Olivia Lobb (29*) played a lone hand for much of the reply. Though Papatoetoe kept themselves in the contest with regular wickets through the first 12 overs, extras would prove costly. When Lobb found support in Katrina Browne (23*), Parnell were able to race away and collect an important six-wicket victory.
Pearl Dawson Trophy | Round Six
Papatoetoe 57 lost to Auckland University 58/2 (K Gurrey 38*) by eight wickets.
Auckland University kept their playoff hopes alive with a quick win over Papatoetoe. The University bowlers came to the party with Naomi Hay, Naomi Matthews and Prue Catton all picking up two wickets, while no bowler conceded more than six an over as Papatoetoe were bowled out for 57 in the 19th over.
Carol Agafili did her best to give Papatoetoe a sniff with bat (23) and ball (2-6) but there weren’t enough runs to play with. Katie Gurrey (38*) ensured University would take a net run-rate boost, finishing the match in the 9th over with Nensi Patel by her side.
